Repaired Phone Box

Last September I wrote a blog post The Future of Sutton’s Telephone Boxes confirming that BT has no plans to remove either of the existing village telephone boxes, both of which are still operational should you need to make a call. However I noted that both phone boxes were in need of maintenance and took the issue up with BT. The good news is that they have completed the first part of maintenance work, to the phone box in the High Street on the green in front of Priorsfield Surgery.

With the assistance of the Conservation Officer at East Cambs District Council I have was able to persuade BT to replace the missing panes of glass and we now have a very smart phone box. Let’s hope it stays that way.

The other phone is at Sutton Gault and is in desperate need of re-painting. BT have confirmed this work has been included in their 2015 programme. Let’s hope it’s not too long before this work is completed.
